How we work

OpenTable teams are independent and come up with their own way of working. In our team, we use two-week sprints to prioritise and drive work. How do you prefer to work? There are lots of opportunities to influence our process and our tech culture.

Enjoying what you do and being able to progress in your career is important to us. Not everyone wants to be a manager, so OpenTable has parallel tracks for both technical and management roles, which engineers can switch between when it suits.

We have recently introduced a Work From (Almost) Anywhere policy, which allows complete flexibility for where and when you work. We prioritise healthy work/life balance and trust engineers to choose where they work to strike the right balance of productivity and face-to-face collaboration.

What to expect

OpenTable engineers come from varied backgrounds, and we believe that a team with a broad set of experiences produces amazing results. You do not have to have a computer science degree; in fact, several of us have social science degrees or no degree at all.

We regularly work with our development teams all over the world, from San Francisco and Los Angeles to Kaunas, Mumbai, and Melbourne. Two days each sprint are allocated to engineer-led innovation and learning opportunities where we get to try new things and share it with the team.
