How do we change the world? We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to partner with our Founder and CEO to build out Stellate's engineering organization. Stellate's vision is to enable open APIs, starting with GraphQL, and create an entirely new market category of data access.

About Us and The Hard Problems We Are Solving

At Stellate, we’re working to unlock the world’s data by building the global data graph. By making the global data graph a reality, we unlock the compounding effects of innovation by removing the inefficiencies of connecting poorly structured and documented APIs.

Our immediate focus is on making open GraphQL APIs ubiquitous. We’ll start by building a set of solutions that enable engineering teams to build fast, high-quality, open GraphQL APIs at scale. This will result in an explosion of open GraphQL APIs, broadening the global data graph. Inevitably, the global data graph will be the center of the digital economy.

Role Responsibilities

You’ll flourish at Stellate, if you love working in a fast-paced, empowered, distributed environment that respects the team, our customers, and our partners.

You’ve previously managed an engineering team, preferably at a company experiencing hyper-growth. You have a strong hands-on technical background and are a skilled engineering leader with 2+ years leading/managing engineering teams. You have a strong background in leading a team of Engineers working in our stack (TypeScript and Rust). You know how to collect and analyze data to figure out what is and isn’t working. You're adaptable. You've worked for fast-growing companies and know how to build, change, and adapt to the needs of a company as it grows. You have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written. You're motivated by building effective engineering teams and are happy to spend time unblocking and developing others around you. You have previously held a role as a full-time Engineering Manage, so you have experience on what it takes to appropriately build and scale processes.

As an Engineering Manager on the team, here are some of the things you would be responsible for:

  • Lead a team of engineers to deliver experiments & features while improving development processes.
  • Ensure transparency & clear communication with other departments.
  • Define & measure success. Help expand to multiple product teams.
  • Lead and mentor a team that is experiencing hyper-growth of revenue and traffic.
  • Keep track of, prioritize, and lead multiple projects, from GraphQL edge caching to new feature work.
  • Build a deep knowledge of Stellate’s products and customers.
  • Develop effective ways to communicate, monitor, and lead your team through one-on-ones and frequent team meetings.
  • Participate in code reviews, learning and spreading technical knowledge throughout Stellate -- moving knowledge to documentation where appropriate.
  • Build rapport with each member of the Engineering Team and support them through coaching and mentorship to help level up their skills.

Compensation Philosophy

We also believe that pay transparency is a diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiative, as well as the best way for a company our size to hold ourselves accountable to fair pay policy.

The salary range for this position is between $207,000 - $233,400 USD annually, based upon experience and determined level.
