The Pragmatic Engineer Test score for this team - plus any details points that are not (yet) a "yes": ***** Please get your score here: https://techpays.com/pragmatic-engineer-test After submitting, please share the result score here.
We have every intention of scoring 12/12 on the Pragmatic Engineer Test, but given how early we are it would be disingenuous to say we score 12/12 today as a lot of it is not yet applicable. As an early member of the team you will play a part in making these things happen though 🙌

We’re creating a new way for businesses to build and run software. A platform where there is no distinction between the application and the infrastructure it runs on, where 90% of the code is written for you, and where common problems find simple and intuitive solutions.

What we’re looking for

After raising a seed round from some fantastic investors we’re now looking for the people who will form our founding Engineering team. This is an incredible opportunity to join a business at one of the most exciting times - going from nothing to something.

Working closely with the founders you will play a key role in designing and building the first version of the product and getting it in the hands of early customers. By joining this early you will be involved in making the earliest technical decisions about how we build our platform and laying the foundations for the future.

You can read more about our mission and what drives us here.

What you'll do

Although there are still a million decisions to make both big and small, if you join us you will almost definitely be doing some of the following.

  • Building a product with developers in mind aiming for a best-in-class developer experience
  • Designing and building our core systems in Go or TypeScript
  • Building schema-driven API’s using GraphQL and gRPC
  • Working with a mix of relational and NoSQL databases e.g. Postgres, DynamoDB
  • Dynamically generating runtime code for languages like Go, Typescript or Python
  • Using Infrastructure-as-Code tools to dynamically provision infrastructure and deploy applications

How you’ll do it

We are building a team that prides itself on these things.

  • 🚤  Can ship fast. At this early stage of product development we will inevitably make a lot of changes to how things work and so we are comfortable with things being “good enough” until they are proven.
  • ✍🏼  Knows when to write words instead of code. A written document or flowchart is worth a thousand code comments and we regularly use these tools to communicate our ideas.
  • 🤝  Gives clear and direct feedback. One of our core values is to help each other out and the best way we can do that is by being honest with each other. So when we’re pairing, reviewing code, or discussing ideas we always are forthcoming with our feedback.
  • ❓ Embraces ambiguity. There is still so much to work out, both technically and organisationally, but we don’t let that hold us back. We fill in the gaps, use our intuition and do the best we can with the information we have.
  • 🥳  Has fun. We may be building a serious business but we have fun while doing it. Fun doesn’t mean easy though, and we have the most fun when we’re tackling the really hard problems.
